BlogSpot or WordPress, choose which platform?

BlogSpot or WordPress, choose which platform?

When it comes to blogging, we have many options to choose from, such as WordPress, Blogspot (Blogger), Tumblr and more.

Related to this is a very popular topic, what is good for blogging? WordPress or Blogger. Sometimes it is confusing to answer this question, because as much as people like blogspot due to less tech hassles, so much do WordPress because of its more features and more power. When someone asks me which platform I like, my answer is:

My recommendation is to always start with blogger for a month, and once you understand blogging and get mixed up with it, you should create your new self hosted WordPress platform blog. You can use Blogger because it is free but do not stick with it for long.

I can say this because I too started my blogging life with Blogger and later shifted to WordPress.org. Earlier it was difficult to know or learn anything, but now with the help of WordPress learning videos is quite easy.

In this article I will share with you a quick comparison of WordPress and Blogspot, and will tell which platform under which conditions you should use.

WordPress or BlogSpot: Which platform should you choose?
Blogspot: Why and why not?

Blogger or BlogSpot platform is very useful when you want to start a blog, just to share your thoughts.

When you don't blogging for money, or you want a platform that doesn't have any technical knowledge, BlogSpot is really great.

BlogSpot has many limitations in terms of functionalities or SEO benefits, but overall if you want a platform for which there is 0 cost, BlogSpot is the right choice.

At the same time, if you blogging for money, fame or your branding, BlogSpot is not the ideal choice. The reason for this is that you have limited control over visibility in the search engine, and after some time you have only a few limited features to add.

I have read this many times that Blogger is Google's platform, it has more advantages in SEO, but it is a pure afro. It does not really matter which platform you are doing, be it WordPress, Blogger, and any other platform, SEO depends on how you have configured your site for search engine. In the Blogger platform we have limited control, and despite the fact that it has added SEO advantages, BlogSpot still lacks SEO optimization.

In Nutshell, Blogger platform is better than WordPress platform if you are creating a blog for your passion, and you are satisfied with the limited features of Blogger platform.

WordPress: Why and Why Not?
Shoutmehindi uses WordPress as a blogging platform, but there is no bias in my reasoning. WordPress gives you complete control over your blog, and you can do anything you want technically. You get complete control over SEO, you host your own files, you can add SEO plug ons, which help in making your blog SEO friendly. More over, you can always add the latest SEO techniques such as star rating, Authorship without sweating.

WordPress gives you the freedom to do whatever you want, but at sam time you have to manage your blog yourself. You will have to install WordPress on your server and maintain the blog. This may sound technical, but due to the support of the WordPress community, you can learn everything without taking time.

If you are creating a blog, thinking that you have to popularize it, and earn money from it, then you should prefer self hosted WordPress blog. If you are an occasional writer, or a hobby blogger, BlogSpot is the best pick for you.

MattCutts also uses WordPress for their personal blog. They have also mentioned that Blogger is good for new users but WordPress gives you more power and you can customize it as you like.

If you talk about SEO then both are same with default installation. The default installation of WordPress is not SEO friendly, but you can make it SEO friendly by using plugins.
