WordPress gives you the freedom to do whatever you want, but at sam time you have to manage your blog yourself. You will have to install WordPress on your server and maintain the blog. This may sound technical, but due to the support of the WordPress community, you can learn everything without taking time.

If you are creating a blog, thinking that you have to popularize it, and earn money from it, then you should prefer self hosted WordPress blog. If you are an occasional writer, or a hobby blogger, BlogSpot is the best pick for you.
